Aurel Kostelić

Aurel Kostelić (1933. – 1996.) - redovni profesor na Strojarskom i brodograđevnom fakultetu, rođen u Otočcu. Diplomirao je na Strojarskobrodograđevnom fakultetu u Zagrebu, gdje je i doktorirao (1975. g.). U nastavu je uveo niz novih predmeta: 'Primjena elektroničkih računala', 'Oblikovanje proizvoda', 'Konstruiranje pomoću računala', 'Znanost o konstruiranju', 'Informatika i modeliranje' i 'Teorija proizvoda'. Bio je idejni začetnik osnivanja Praktikuma za konstruiranje pomoću računala na fakultetu. Gostovao je kao znanstvenik na stranim sveučilištima (Houston, Los Angeles, Rim, Milano, na postdiplomskom studiju europskog centra za mir Ujedinjenih naroda (ECMIR)), sudjelovao je u osnivanju studija elektrostrojarstva na Sveučilištu u Osijeku. U međunarodnima znanstvenim krugovima prof. Kostelić je prepoznatljiv kao začetnik Teorije proizvoda koju je razvijao kao član međunarodnog udruženja WDK (Workshop Design Konstruktion), te kao član međunarodnog uređivačkog odbora časopisa Journal of Engineering Design. Kostelić je bio i glazbeno nadaren, imao je lijepi i ugodni bariton, pjevao je neko vrijeme u akademskom zboru 'Ivan Goran Kovačić'. Lik je izradio akademski kipar Nikolay Borisovich Burtasenkov iz Rusije.;


Aurel Kostelić (1933–1996) – Full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, born in the town of Otočac. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb, where he also received his PhD in 1975. He introduced a number of new subjects in the classroom: Application of Electronic Computers, Product Design, Computer Design, Engineering Science, Informatics and Modeling, and Product Theory. He was the initiator of the idea of establishing the Computer Building Design Practice Course at the Faculty. He was a guest scholar at foreign universities (Houston, Los Angeles, Rome, Milan), the postgraduate study at the European Center for Peace and Development (ECPD) of the United Nations, and participated in the founding of graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Osijek. In international scholarly circles Professor Kostelić is recognizable as the founder of the Theory of the Product, which he developed as a member of the WDK (Workshop Design Konstruction), The International Society for Design Science, and as a member of the International Editorial Board of the Journal of Engineering Design. Kostelić was also a talented musician, had a pleasant baritone voice and sang for some time in the Ivan Goran Kovačić Academic Choir. The bas-relief sculpture was created by Russian sculptor Nikolay Borisovich Burtasenkov.
